How to Play - SnakeTris Invaders

Game Overview

SnakeTris Invaders is a unique hybrid arcade game that combines the classic mechanics of Snake, Tetris, and Space Invaders into one thrilling experience!

Control your snake as it navigates a field filled with falling Tetris blocks while battling space invaders. Your snake grows longer based on the blocks that freeze on the field and the invaders you defeat.

Game Mechanics

Snake Movement & Growth

Your snake moves continuously in the direction you choose. Unlike traditional Snake games, your snake doesn't grow by eating food. Instead, its length is calculated by:

Snake Length = Base Length (3) + Frozen Tetris Blocks - (Invaders Killed × 2)

Tetris Blocks

Tetromino pieces fall from the top of the screen. Your snake can interact with falling blocks (push or rotate them by touching them), but passes freely through blocks that have landed and frozen on the bottom. When a complete horizontal line is formed, it clears just like in Tetris!

Space Invaders

Enemy invaders appear and move across the screen, shooting bullets at your snake. They shoot in multiple directions - straight down and diagonally - making them more challenging to avoid! Use SPACE to shoot back and destroy them. Invaders only spawn in the upper half of the screen where your upward-traveling bullets can reach them.

As you progress to higher levels, you'll encounter different types of invaders:

Regular Invaders (white): Horizontal movement, speed increases with level
FastInvader (orange, Level 2+): Erratic diagonal movement, frequent shooting
EliteInvader (magenta, Level 3+): Spiral movement pattern, very frequent shooting

Collisions

Your snake will die if it:

Collides with its own body
Gets hit by invader bullets

Note: Your snake wraps around the screen edges and passes through frozen Tetris blocks - neither will cause death!

Scoring System

Survival Bonus

Continuous points for staying alive

Line Clearing

Bonus points for completing Tetris lines

Invader Kills

Points per invader destroyed

Block Interactions

Points for various block interactions

Strategy Tips

Tip 1: Clear Tetris lines for bonus points and to keep your snake length manageable, since each frozen block makes your snake longer.

Tip 2: Shoot invaders strategically! Each invader killed reduces your snake length by 2 segments, making it easier to control, but be careful of their diagonal bullets.

Tip 3: Plan your movement carefully as your snake grows longer. Remember that you can pass through frozen blocks but avoid your own tail!

Tip 4: You can interact with falling Tetris pieces (push or rotate them), and pass through both falling and frozen blocks.

Tip 5: Watch out for invader bullets! They can shoot diagonally in multiple directions, not just straight down. Move unpredictably to avoid them.

Level Progression

The game features 15 challenging levels with increasing difficulty as your score grows. Each level brings new challenges, enemy types, and gameplay mechanics!

Level Strategy: As levels increase, focus on shooting invaders to keep your snake manageable. Each invader kill reduces snake length by 2 segments, which becomes crucial for surviving the faster, more aggressive enemies!

Level Transition System

When you reach certain score milestones, the game will automatically pause and display a Level Transition Modal:

Modal Features:

Game pauses automatically when you reach a new level
Modal displays level-specific information and new challenges
Shows new enemy types and gameplay changes
Click "Continue" or wait 5 seconds to resume
Your game state is preserved during the pause

This gives you a moment to prepare for the increased difficulty and discover what new challenges await you!

Discovery is Part of the Fun: Each level holds surprises! The specific enemies, mechanics, and challenges are yours to discover as you progress through all 15 levels. Can you master them all?

Lives & Game Over

You start with 3 lives. When you die, you'll see a spectacular death animation as your snake explodes into particles. If you achieve a high score, you'll be treated to a fireworks celebration and can enter your name for the leaderboard!
